COVID Testing Registration
Picture
Beginning November 16, 2021, the school system has made a change to our Responsible Return 2.0 protocols regarding student exclusion/quarantine. In addition, there are also changes to our consent form for our in-school COVID-19 testing program.

Beginning this week, students aged 5 and older, that meet the following eligibility criteria can opt to participate in a 7-day modified quarantine:
  • The close contact occurs between students aged 5 and older; (Adults are ineligible for modified quarantine.)
  • Both students were wearing masks consistently and correctly during the time of close contact;
  • The student who is a close contact is asymptomatic; and
  • The student is not fully vaccinated.
Those students eligible for modified quarantine will be able to attend school, but with several restrictions in place.
  • First, the student must not exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Second, the student must properly and consistently wear their well-fitted face mask at all times while in school.
  • Third, the student must be tested for COVID-19 on days 1, 3, 5, and 7 of the modified quarantine period. On these days, students will report directly to the school nurse upon arriving at school to complete a rapid COVID-19 test, and
  • Lastly, students on modified quarantine are prohibited from participation in any afterschool programs for the duration of the modified quarantine. This includes afterschool academies, athletics, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.
If your child is identified as a close contact and is eligible for modified quarantine, you will receive that information from our school nurse. At that time, you will be asked if you wish for your child to participate in the modified quarantine with the conditions above or you may opt to have your child complete his/her quarantine at home.

Lastly, WCPS has moved to a new COVID-19 testing management platform, which requires registration for each child. Even if you completed a paper consent for testing at the beginning of the year, if you would like your child to be eligible to be tested at school, please register for testing using the
school-specific link. This consent will be valid for through the end of this school year unless you contact us to rescind that consent. If your child presents to the health room as a close contact, with symptoms, or is identified as part of a cohort outbreak, you will still be contacted for verbal consent to test.
